Thanks to gertk over at c5alive I decided to hack 2 arrow shaped holes in the back of the reflector and insert 2 animated direction indicators:

Ah okay. I don't like the idea of cutting up one of the indicator panels but in this instance I think it's worth it. I might try your method next time and just use a normal led light.
