Hi I have had a go but there is still a little work to do on it but it's no problem
The way I do it is to get a piece of wood cut to size (it has to be long enough-to push the front up about say 4ins) then fit it from the handle bar to the front above the pod
Then I use a paint stripper to heat up the front from underneath and the top but be careful not to melt the body as it will if you don't watch it ...leave the wood in until the body cools down then take it out and leave it for a while to see if it stays straight if not repeat it again
Chas. Be careful you only have one body [-x \:d/ =d>

Charles what do you do with the original battery top and key switch? I know you mentioned before the safety wiring harnesses. Do you just strip the original mechanism off and connect up directly to battery poles via your wiring harnesses clips?

SINCLAIR C5 CHAS posted:
Hi regarding the old key switch I disconect them from the control box and fit my safety cable onto the same connectors .
Then I strip the key switch down and clean it then build it back up ready for fitting ..the last C5 that I restored was a factory fitted twin battery in stead of using my safety cables I restored and fitted the original twin key switches to keep it in original condition ...I do have a few key switches with keys ready for fitting if I want to use them on an original restoration ...

ok, so when the safety harness is on, it won't have the keyswitch right? If so, how do you control the power, does your kit have a new master switch or something then?

My oh my, when you do something you appear to go the whole hog.
I had a similar experience a long time ago, but as luck would have, it I just badly sprained everything on my right hand side. Bit of a pig, as I had to use my left hand to operate the computer at work.
Hope you're not incapacitated for too long a period. Take a good rest, and don't go cycling.

Hi Charles that's great news. Unfortunately being realistic I'm not able to use my arms properly still and will have to miss out on this C5. I have an appointment at the hospital in 2 weeks to discuss an operation to put steel plates in my shoulder and I am still quite unable to use either arm properly. The recovery time for this is looking to run into moths rather than weeks I suspect. I'm sorry but realistically I can't think about anything but that now, I hope you understand and accept my apologies, as this is not how I imagined any of this ending.

Hi Chas,
I don't know if it's still the case today, but in the 80s sending items from the UK weighing over 20 Kilos was cheaper by air than by surface.
Unless you are going to sell a new boxed item the main problem will be crating it, plus the crate will most lightly weigh more than the C5.
Anyway, av phun.
