Having finally got the software in a state that I'm happy with (It's been renamed to the X-Pod) I have decided to take another working C5 and "convert" it to use the X-Pod.

One thing I do want to do with this one is re-use the control box outer casing to house the new X-Pod control box, relay and current sensor.  Normally I just use a large project box but even large ones get cramped with board, modules and all the wires and they usually end up full of holes which I want to avoid.  I'm sure there's a way to fit it into a standard C5 control box case without making too many holes in it.

The electrics on this C5 are all functional, the pod is running from the ULA adapter so this will become a spare.

I'll post some photos as I progress, at the moment its just an idea

Control Box Dave, like this:

Getting all the other wires in there will be a bit of a challenge

thats a great idea of using a old case now all you have to do is design a board for the ula chip mod then join both together new electrics but still looking normal and old ?

Yep.  If you see a decent size LCD screen that could fit into a pod casing I'll look to bolt that on. Or do you think I should go for the original look and just stick with the 10 LEDs but everything internally is modern electronics??

Well you'd only have 4 going to the front, the same as for a touchscreen. Just mount a nano in the pod,  connect it to the pod leds or any other small lcd screen and go from there.

LOL No. Have you seen how much they are? I'd have to sell all my c5's to pay for half of one

But if someone did we could design a proper case for it, no more cutting holes in boxes or pods, just copy and paste them...

Maybe they'll come down in price in a year or so...

These touchscreens don't seem to be working too well recently.  Just tested it now and the image is full of lines:

Having attached some land rover indicators & led bulbs to the C5 and a 3-way switch. I've put the new control box in place with the power and motor cables.  It's arranged slightly differently from my first picture:

Just waiting for a bunch of 3-way jumper cables for the internal LM35 and reed switch then I'll think about attaching all the wires and closing the box up.
