Well done Chas. When you do restorations do you normally keep the key switch assembly if you have a key?

Hi I don't keep the original switch as you know they are not very reliable and you are limited to the size of the battery .
I did restore one a few months ago as it was a factory fitted twin battery and the key switchers where in very good condition .
I only use the original switch if asked for after explaining the options ...

Ps the key is not a problem as I make the key to fit the switch

That makes sense, I've never seen the point of keeping the key switch unless its reliable

Stering sorted now the brakes and start + horn switchers to fit on












Started fitting the peddles

Started working on the motor .Stripped it down checked it replaced the gearbox bearing all the old grease taken out
Cleaned all the parts and rebuilt it with new grease in the gearbox ...
Tested it al works great .

Hi there Chris restoration now complete .just been out again testing everything and it's looking great and running the same ...just need to put on the new tyres + the front/back trims and the mud flaps .will post photos later

I would like to buy a C5 and let someone put restore as you have done for this guy.

It will be a dream for me.

Sinclair user since 1983, a great collector of Speccy and QL stuff (I'm on restoration program for QL), I would like to buy a C5 online (New If is possible) and let make it check from you or people like you.

And naturally I would like to use it ^_^

Hi Simon,

just a word of caution, I would first check the Italian laws concerning electric vehicles. As far as I know in Italy, unlike England, you can't use the C5 in standard form as an electric vehicle without modification, i.e. modded to pedelec standard for EU countries..

The C5 can be driven with only electric power (without pedalling), and has no speed control. In most European countries this constitutes an electric vehicle and not a bike, which means it needs registration, licence, insurance, etc.

I would give the C5 that you showed in your link a miss, it's not new, it's overpriced (€120 for deliver within Germany), and he also avoids giving a guarantee for the electrical function. Plus the answers he gives to the submitted questions are very evasive. All in all he looks like a very slippery charecter.

Well I think It can be used only as a "pedal" machine, the electic part I think not.

But I think to use it not on the road but on Cyclable roads ahead my home in 2,5km:
